[quote="365mag"]Some electronic producers wait for years for the one track that will elevate them to success and stardom after thousands of hours of studio slog. Portugese-born Rui Da Silva, however, crashed onto the scene from seemingly nowhere in 2000, unleashing the number one hit single Touch Me onto the worlds dancefloors and radios. Now his eagerly awaited LP entitled Praying Mantis hits the stores.

Over the last six years, Rui has turned in a steady stream of singles on his own Kismet label, tracks such as Feel The Love, The Fifth Element, Matrix and Stoned making it into the record boxes that matter. Tracks were licensed to various compilations, including Dave Seaman's and Danny Tenaglia's Global Underground excursions.

Speaking exclusively to 365Mag on the new LP, Rui comments: "Sound wise the album is way much more experimental and exploratory of new sounds and textures than what I usually do on singles. The inspiration for the album came from the new sounds that have been coming out of Germany last year and from the parties that have been happening in East London for the last couple of years."

In 2005 Rui launched his own label 64 Records, opting for that slightly more minimal approach and away from the progressive tracks on singles Pacman / Punks Run Wild and Lixuneanos. With a very hands on approach (he has even featured a vocalist he has met busking on the streets) Rui proves that one can stick to an individual and quality sound and still be a success in the modern music scene.

The full artist album, entitled Praying Mantis in stores now.
